Leadership Strategies for Social Media with Low Dominance People

 This is the first substantive entry in my blog series about the leadership implications of social media.  Earlier, I introduced the series with an overview of this topic.  

Personality Trait – Low Dominance 

These people do not have strong need to exert their own personal influence on other people and events. 

Social Media Implications for Low Dominance

  • Disliking conflict these people may prefer observing in a social media environment where strong opinions are freely expressed.
  • A beneficial element of social media is that they can feel part of a team or community simply by monitoring others’ communication.

Leadership Strategies for Low Dominance People with Social Media

  • Sensitive to team or community harmony, these people can serve as excellent “radar” regarding the tenor and tone of communications.
  • Every team should have one or more of these people – protect their ability to contribute and listen to them!
