Personality Trait – Extroversion
These people have a strong need for social relations with others.
Social Media Implications for Extroversion
With interactivity, pictures, videos, opportunities for high-profile “spotlights” and ever-expanding “friends” lists, social media feed extroverts’ need for social interaction. While the technological interface required is a barrier to participation, for people who grew up with the technology or are in a high-adoption business or region it simply becomes another social venue in which to work their interpersonal magic.
Leadership Strategies for Extroverted People with Social Media
Encourage their natural enthusiasm with praise and recognition for accomplishments.
- Allow their personality to shine through with lots of pictures, videos and activity.
- Leverage their ability to make connections to expand your online presence.
- Construct a team within which they can operate – don’t assign them to act alone.
- These may not be your most “techie” folks, facilitate use of electronic tools with training and other support.
